- Title ‘In Hot Pursuit” Huntsman with French Scent Hound dogs by Guillaume Urban Régamey C1860.
- Subject imposing hunting portrait in side profile showing French Huntsman on horseback in full charge chasing after the fox who is in the lead, witha large pack of scent foxhound dogs also chasing just behind the fox. The lead huntsman is wearing a low cap hat with a dark grey jacket with brown trousers & black riding boots, his has raised aloft a white handkerchief whilst holding his horse whip in his other hand, riding on a darker brown bay hunter horse. Just behind him another huntsman weariong a red jacket with white trousers and has a white collar running around his cap, riding on his lighter brown bay hunter, he is carrying a French horn on his back. Further behind is the third huntsman on a white stallion horse, in his very smart black jacket with white collar and white cuffs on it, above he has on his top hat. Set in the open countryside outside Paris heading towards the woods. Above with blue & dark cloudy grey sky.

- Set in a recent Larson Juhl gold leaf spoon profile design traditional decorative moulded Poplar wood frame which enhances this painting even further.
- Circa 1860 mid 19h century Victorian era.
- Artist biography Guillaume Urban Regamey (1837-1875) birthplace was in Paris France, he became the pupil of Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran (1802-1897) He participated to the first 'Salon des Refusés', which took place in François Bonvin's (1817-1887) atelier in 1859, he became friends with Corot there. He only had a short career sadly and died at the very young age of only 37. A retrospective exhibition of his oeuvre was held at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1876. This is a fine example of Guillaume Régamey works as he devoted almost entirely to the depiction of horses and horsemen. This painting shows 3 French Huntsman on horseback in full charge with scent foxhound dogs in the lead. His paintings have been exhibited in Galleries around the world like in the V&A museum & Royal Academy of Arts, you can view his painting The Sentinel in the V&A Museum.

- Offered in fine used condition.
- Front painting surface is in acceptable overall order. Having various foxing stains, craquelure & some paint loss in places. Paint touch ups to the horse in front lower leg area and also to the top right background area. A small hole in the canvas top left area, with several small repair patches shown on the canvas back. Various dirt to the canvas front surface would beneift with a clean. Some paint fading around the horse in front and lower riders leg area. The frame which has some imperfections commensurate with being handmade.
