Artist biography Nick Holdsworth is a British contemporary artist, his unique style combines modern artistic methods with nostalgic imagination creativity. He uses both digital manipulation, creative graphics together with hand-painting to produce dramatic telling images. Each of his artworks is focused around a certain graphic, like a known brand logo connected with the subject matter, this results in a unique fusion of the iconic past and future direction. This method adds depth also intelligence with a lasting quality to his contemporary works of art, looking back on Holdsworth passage through iconic participation and creative change. He starts with choosing an online image to intensify, magnify them by taking away defects and altering details via Photoshop's layered approach. Then he separates mixed elements into unrelated different layers, this allows for intense purification.
Nick can also include extra detail sourced from other images, merging them so smoothly through concealing. He pixelates the image and adds his preferred duplicated icon. He masterly refines each layer, making certain that the graphics remain seen and are in harmony. Nick will then add hue colour to each layer, skillfully hand-painting using a tablet, complementing the colours that he will use for the final airbrushed version painting. The final piece is printed monochrome in mosaic form, later then perfected during many hours of his personal hand painting touches , utilising airbrushing, inks, stencils, pens, and brushes to achieve the finished tone with detail.
Before Nick began as an artist in the late 20th century, Nick was known to have co-founded a fashion label Purple Om / Random which was A cult T-shirt brand. The clothing range was sold all over the world in top end stores like Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Libertys, Collette in Paris also Barneys in Tokyo. He also worked on collaborations with Levis Red-Japan, Eliminator-Japan, Block 60-Italy, Griffin Studio-UK and Harvey Nichols. Nick’s unique techniques and style that began to gain interest from the art industry. He soon started to find other ways to express his greatest passion for fashion, music & pop culture via his individual pieces of fine art. His background in design gave him a great advantage along with his digital skills mastery which opened up a world of amazing artistic possibilities. After many years of experimentation, he is now producing breath taking mixed –media pieces.
