- Pair English Early 19th Century Fine Art Hunting Oil Paintings Liberty & Industry Horses By Francis Calcraft Turner.
- Subject Equine horse hunting study of bay hunters the first has a white colour coat and name "Liberty", who is facing right in full side profile galloping towards a fence with a river below, in the background is a pack of scent foxhounds chasing a fox in the distance, to the other flank are 2 huntsmen in full traditional hunting dress red coats charging on brown and black horses, one rider has his black hat off and held forward as he charges, with large trees further back, a lone house on the other side in the distance surrounded by trees and vegetation. With overcast cast and spots of blue coming through in patches in the sky.
- The second horse who has a brown colour coat is called "Industry" who is facing left and in full stride jumping over a fence with a small stream below in mid-flight about to land on the rivers bank edge. With a white and black horse in the distance and 3 other white horses further overlooking in the opposite direction. Beautiful landscape view with some tall trees in the distance on either flank. With mainly overcast cloudy sky with some blue coming through the top left corner. The paint colors stand out they are vibrant and bold.

- A nice size with the frames each being 30 cm high and 35 cm wide.
- These paintings are unsigned, but they are by the artist Francis Cal craft Turner, he did not sign all of his works.
- These are very fine examples of his work.
- Francis Calcraft Turner 1782-1846 admired familiar and much loved sporting art artist from the United Kingdom.
- Francis Calcraft Turner was a British artist who focused on the sports, hunting & racing subjects, he was operating in London during the first half of the 19th century. He was also a member of the Society of British Artists, he exhibited his artworks in London. Also had various showings of his compositions at the Royal Academy. Another fine example of his work was the 1842 Berkeley Hunt The Chase. You can find information about him from the British Museum & Christie's along with other online art sources.
