- With a stunningly crafted Crane and his fish catch on a wonderful ornate plinth in the center.
- Circa late 19th century, 1880.
- Having beautiful intricate foliage leaves & berries repoussé detail.
- Unsigned, no maker's mark.
- In the style of similar to the famous silversmith James Deakin.
- This piece was made for the Retailer H. Spilled, London, stamped underneath, circa 1880.
- No Hallmark.
- Well-appointed for the writing traditionalist with its two removable, clear-cut glass ink pots with hinged lids that sit securely inside delicately decorated square inserts and a quill rest recessed into the beautiful decorative base.
- Raised on four angled feet with the underside stamped “SPILLED, 204 UPPER ST, ARLINGTON, S6148.”
- A beautiful Christmas present gift.

- Offered in fine used, worn condition.
- No quill.
- The silver plate is tarnished, & rubbed on the crane's legs and around the quill recess. Some loss of plate in places and various scratches.
- Both the glass inkwells are original & in good condition for their age, one has a small nick to one edge and there is residue of red ink to the cap, 1 of the inkwell base's is slightly warped, and you have to push it into place so it fits in all commensurate with age and nothing that detracts for the magnificence of the piece.
