Biography of the artist he was born in Groningen, Holland in 1912. He went to The Hague as a child. After secondary school there, he studied at the Academy for Arts.
He worked for three years as a lithographic artist but moved to Blerick in the south of Holland where he married a daughter of a big farmer's family. His paintings of old towns and farmers' houses, mostly done in delicate lights and in an easily impressionistic style, are well known.
He exhibited in Antwerp en, The Hague and Amsterdam. He has taught many young artists and is a prominent member of the Brugs School of Artists.
