  • Artist biography Andrew Kitson is a well-known British racing sporting artist who was born in 1959 sport he grew up in Cambridge, England. He has a lasting fascination with motor racing sports. This was attributed to his dad who was a racing mechanic during the 1960s. When Andrew was a youth he attended, on Sundays at racing circuits all over the United Kingdom and he particularly loved it at Snetterton and Silverstone, as well as Brands Hatch. When he attended college in the 1970s he studied technical illustration. During his time off at weekends his hobby was helping teams in Formula 5000 and Formula Ford.
  • He learned his trade as an Illustrator in the automotive industry, then later Andrew had a go at action racing paintings, which was a hobby painting at first. He used his expertise that he gained working in the industry. Shortly afterwards, racing drivers along with teams that he was familiar with from the racing world would ask him for paintings of their cars. Then the word spread like wildfire about how great his realistic sporting racing paintings are.
  • He produces paintings that combine nostalgia and beauty which embellish realism. It’s like you can nearly smell the burning rubber from the tires screeching and almost hear the exciting sounds of the engines booming along the track. Andrew has sold his artworks around the world & to known racing companies and sports stars like Ferrari, Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, Jackie Stewart, Murray Walker, Honda, the BRDC, BTCC and many other well known racing personalities, & teams.
  • The 2000 Italian Grand Prax (formally the LXIX Gran Premo Caspari distalia) was a Formula One motor race held on 10 September 2000, at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza near Monza, Lombardy, Italy, in front of an estimated 110,000 to 120,000 people. It was the 14th round of the 2000 Formula One World Championship and the season's final event in Europe. Ferrari's Michael Schumacher won the 53-lap race from pole position. McLaren's Mika Häkkinen took second and Williams' Ralf Schumacher was third. Before the race, Häkkinen led the World Drivers' Championship and McLaren led the World Constructors' Championship.
  • Michael Schumacher maintained the lead and held off Häkkinen's attempts to pass him going into the first corner. An incident involving four cars further around the lap necessitated the safety car's deployment and fire marshal Paolo Gislimberti was struck by a flying wheel from Heinz-Harald Frenchmen's car. When the safety car was withdrawn at the end of lap eleven, Michael Schumacher began to pull away from Häkkinen and maintained the lead until his pit stop on the 39th lap. When Häkkinen made his pit stop three laps later, Michael Schumacher regained the lead, which he held to earn his sixth victory of the season and the 41st of his career, tying him with Ayrton Senna; Häkkinen came in second 3.8 seconds later. As a result of the race results, Schumacher cut Kinkiness's World Drivers' Championship lead to two points, with David Coulthard another 17 points back. Rubens Barrichello, who was involved in the first-lap accident, was mathematically ruled out of winning the championship. McLaren's eight-point lead entering the Grand Prax was down to four with three races remaining in the season. Gimbernati died later in hospital, prompting a review of Formula One safety standards.
  • Michael Schumacher (German: [ˈmɪçaːʔeːl ˈʃuːmaxɐ] ⓘ; born 3 January 1969) is a German former racing driver who competed in Formula One for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Schumacher has a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Lewis Hamilton) and, at the time of his retirement from the sport in 2012, he held the records for the most wins (91), pole positions (68), and podium finishes (155)—which have since been broken by Hamiltonian he maintains the record for the number of total fastest laps (77), among others. Born to working-class parents, Schumacher started his racing career in carting. He won his first carting championship aged six in a kart built from discarded parts.
  • After having enjoyed success in Keating-Hart as winning the 1987 European carting championship in several singletree series, Schumacher made a one-off Formula One appearance with Jordan at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prax. He was signed by Benetton for the rest of the 1991 season. He won his first and second drivers' titles consecutively in 1994 and 1995. Schumacher moved to the struggling Ferrari team in 1996. During his first years in the team, Schumacher lost out on the title in the final race of the season in 1997 and 1988 and suffered a broken leg from a brake failure in 1999.
  • He and Ferrari won five consecutive titles from 2000 to 2004, including unprecedented sixth and seventh titles, breaking several records. After finishing third in 2005 and second in 2006, Schumacher retired from the sport, although he later made a brief return with Mercedes from 2010 to 2012. Schumacher was noted for pushing his car to the very limit for sustained periods during races, a pioneering fitness regimen and an ability to galvanize teams around him. He and his younger brother Ral fare are the only siblings to win races in Formula One and the first siblings to finish first and second in the same race, a feat they repeated in four subsequent races.
  • Schumacher was twice involved in collisions in the final race of a season that decided the title: first with Damon Hill at the 1994 Australian Grand Prax, and later with Jacques Villeneuve at the 1997 European Grand Prax. An ambassador for UNESCO, Schumacher has been involved in humanitarian projects and has donated tens of millions of dollars to charity. In December 2013, Schumacher suffered a severe brain injury in a skiing accident. He was placed in a medically induced coma until June 2014. He left the hospital in Grenoble for further rehabilitation at the Lausanne University Hospital, before being relocated to his home to receive medical treatment and rehabilitation privately in September 2014.
