Cheshire Antiques Consultant LTDĀ®

Last Updated: 6 November 2026

Overview

Cheshire Antiques Consultant LTDĀ® arranges UK and worldwide shipping for fine art, antiques and decorative works using established professional carriers and specialist fine art logistics providers where appropriate.

All items are carefully packaged using protective materials appropriate to their size, construction, condition and fragility.

Delivery arrangements may vary depending upon the individual artwork, destination and specialist handling requirements.

Processing & Dispatch

Orders are typically processed within 2-5 working days following receipt of cleared payment, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Processing times may vary depending upon the nature of the work, packaging requirements, courier availability, export documentation or destination.

Where additional preparation or specialist transportation is required, we will communicate the relevant arrangements to the purchaser.

Shipping Methods

We use established courier services, including DHL, FedEx, DPD and Parcelforce, together with specialist fine art transport providers where appropriate.

The shipping method is selected according to the artwork's dimensions, value, condition, destination and handling requirements.

Tracking information will be provided where available following dispatch.

Delivery Times

Estimated delivery times are generally 2-5 working days within mainland United Kingdom and 5-14 working days internationally following dispatch.

These timeframes are estimates unless a particular delivery date has been expressly agreed.

Delays may occur due to customs procedures, carrier operations, adverse weather, export licensing requirements or other circumstances.

For qualifying consumer contracts, delivery will be made within the period agreed with the purchaser or, where no different period has been agreed, within the applicable statutory timeframe.

Nothing in this section excludes or restricts statutory rights concerning delayed or failed delivery.

UK Delivery Charges

Delivery charges, where applicable, will be confirmed before purchase.

Complimentary mainland UK delivery may be offered on selected artworks or transactions, subject to the delivery arrangements stated in the relevant listing or agreed in writing.

Additional charges may apply to remote destinations, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland, or items requiring specialist transportation.

Any applicable additional delivery charges will be communicated before the purchase is completed.

International Shipping

International orders are generally supplied on a Delivered at Place (DAP) basis unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Under DAP arrangements, the buyer is generally responsible for applicable destination-country import charges, including:

  • Import duties
  • Import VAT, GST or other applicable taxes
  • Customs clearance fees
  • Import-related administrative charges

The buyer is generally responsible for completing applicable import formalities and providing information reasonably required for customs clearance, subject to the agreed delivery terms and applicable law.

Where a different delivery arrangement is expressly agreed in writing, the responsibilities of the parties will be determined by that arrangement.

Customs & Import Requirements

International shipments may require additional documentation, including customs declarations, commercial invoices, export licences or other regulatory information.

We may request information reasonably necessary to facilitate export documentation, customs clearance or applicable regulatory compliance.

Failure to provide required information or complete applicable customs formalities may result in delays, additional charges or return of the shipment.

Certain artworks and antiques may be subject to cultural property export controls or other restrictions depending upon their age, value, materials and destination.

Where an export licence or other permission is required, dispatch may be delayed until the necessary documentation has been obtained.

Packaging & Insurance

Great care is taken in the preparation, packaging and transportation of the fine art and antiques we sell.

Artworks are packed using protective materials appropriate to their size, condition, medium, framing and construction.

Shipments are generally insured for their declared value unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Insurance coverage is subject to the applicable policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.

For framed paintings, insurance may distinguish between the artwork itself and the accompanying frame or glazing.

Frames and glazing may not be insured separately unless additional cover has been expressly arranged and confirmed in writing before dispatch.

Purchasers requiring specific insurance arrangements or additional cover should contact us before purchase.

Any insurance exclusions or limitations do not remove or restrict our statutory obligations concerning delivery, conformity of goods or consumer remedies.

Risk in Transit

For consumer purchases, risk in the goods generally passes to the purchaser when the goods come into the physical possession of the purchaser or a person identified by the purchaser to receive them, subject to applicable law.

Where a consumer independently arranges a carrier not offered by us, different statutory provisions concerning the passing of risk may apply.

Title to the goods is governed by our Terms of Service .

Delivery & Inspection

Purchasers are encouraged to inspect their artworks and packaging promptly upon delivery.

Where visible damage, loss or a delivery discrepancy is identified, we request notification as soon as reasonably practicable, preferably within 48 hours of delivery.

Photographs of the packaging, artwork and any damage may assist with the investigation of a courier or insurance claim.

Purchasers should retain the original packaging where reasonably possible until any reported delivery issue has been assessed.

The requested 48-hour notification period is intended to assist with courier investigations and does not constitute a deadline for exercising statutory consumer rights.

Failure to notify us within 48 hours does not automatically invalidate a legitimate claim or remove any statutory rights or remedies.

Refused or Undeliverable Shipments

Where a shipment cannot be delivered because of an incorrect address supplied by the purchaser, failure to complete applicable import formalities, or refusal to pay import charges for which the purchaser is responsible, additional costs may arise.

These may include return transportation, storage, customs handling or other charges reasonably incurred.

Responsibility for such costs and any deductions from a refund will be determined in accordance with the agreed contractual terms, the circumstances of the return and applicable law.

No deduction will be made where doing so would conflict with statutory consumer cancellation, refund or other mandatory legal rights.

Returns Shipping

Purchasers wishing to return an artwork should contact Cheshire Antiques Consultant LTDĀ® as soon as reasonably practicable.

We will provide appropriate return instructions, including the return address, recommended courier arrangements and any relevant customs documentation.

Because artworks and antiques may be fragile, valuable or unusually sized, we strongly recommend secure protective packaging and suitable tracked transportation.

Where a statutory cancellation right applies, a purchaser may exercise that right by providing a clear cancellation statement within the applicable statutory period.

Prior written authorisation is not a condition of exercising a valid statutory cancellation right.

Where permitted by law and disclosed before the contract was concluded, the purchaser may be responsible for direct return transportation costs following a change-of-mind cancellation.

Where goods are faulty, materially misdescribed or otherwise fail to conform to the contract, return costs and remedies will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation.

Failure to use a recommended courier or follow a preferred administrative instruction does not automatically invalidate statutory rights.

Purchasers should take reasonable care when handling and returning artworks.

Regulatory Compliance

Cheshire Antiques Consultant LTDĀ® operates in accordance with applicable UK legal and regulatory requirements.

We are registered with HM Revenue & Customs as an Art Market Participant under registration number XRML00000211615.

Where required, we may request identification, transaction information or supporting documentation necessary to complete applicable anti-money laundering, sanctions, export or shipping checks.

Shipment may be delayed where necessary to satisfy applicable legal or regulatory obligations.

Relationship with Our Terms & Policies
