🌼 Rare Loetz Art Nouveau Yellow Glass Trinket Box w/ Ormolu Floral Lid c.1900

A True Collector’s Piece of Bohemian Art Glass Heritage

✨ Description

A rare and exquisite antique Loetz Art Nouveau trinket box, crafted from the finest quality glass and adorned with gilt ormolu floral garland decoration. This elegant round lidded box captures the organic curves, radiant colour, and refined detailing that defined the Art Nouveau period.

The glass glows in a rich golden-yellow hue, beautifully complemented by an ornate ormolu clasp and inner rim. Every detail speaks to the superb craftsmanship that placed Loetz among Europe’s premier art glassmakers.

Although unsigned, this piece is confidently attributed to Loetz. Most Loetz art glass pieces were not signed or marked, and identification often relies on their distinctive colour, form, and decorative style — all clearly present here.

🕰️ History & Provenance

Circa early 1900s, this piece originates from the height of Loetz’s creative success, when their innovative designs were celebrated across Europe and the United States.

Founded in 1840 in Klostermühle, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), Loetz flourished under Suzanna Loetz and later Max Ritter von Spaun, pioneering iridescent finishes and nature-inspired forms (Jugendstil).

Loetz earned first prize at the 1889 Paris Exhibition and the Grand Prize at the 1900 Paris World Exhibition, establishing its place among the world’s most important glassmakers.

Provenance: Acquired from a respected fine art glass dealer in Lancashire, England, and lovingly preserved as part of a private collection.
