- Having a hinged cover lid in hand carved relief with figures of wise men under a pine tree, with blue enamel interior & standing on 4 ball feet.
- This extraordinary Chinese cinnabar lacquer box is finely detailed high quality. A technique of engraving pattern on a thick layer of red lacquer is applied in this piece. From the lid to the bottom, very detailed multiple geometric & leaf foliage patterns are also hand carved into the background. With an attractive slim rectangle shape. What especially stands out are the colours, the main colour which has a fabulous copper red finish & the interior is turquoise which you will fall in love with.
- Although lacquer is used in many Asian cultures, the art of carving lacquer is unique to China.
- A nice size being 4.5 cm high and 10 cm wide.
