Catalogue Note
The brooch presents the fish in a compact lateral profile. A rounded body, gently modelled head, defined mouth and simplified fins establish the subject with clarity and economy.
Across the body, a finely pebbled and lightly planished surface interacts with the surrounding light. Smoother raised elements provide contrast, allowing the modelling to remain clearly legible despite the brooch’s restrained approach.
The design avoids excessive anatomical detail. Instead, the maker concentrates on silhouette, texture and proportion, resulting in an object that feels sophisticated and sculptural rather than merely whimsical.

Condition Report
Good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use.
Light scuffs and fine scratches are visible across the silver under close inspection. Naturally developed tarnish and patination remain within the recesses and around the textured areas, contributing attractive definition and tonal depth.
The sterling silver mark is partially struck or worn, while the maker’s cartouche remains indistinct.
